These guys make a lot of noise
L to R: Andy Levenberg, Doug Tompkins, Mark Malen

Chemtrails creates rock and roll music for the coming Apocalypse. The 3-piece band fuses rich guitar tones with a back-breaking rhythm section, creating a unique sound that falls somewhere between Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy, and making a hell of a lot of noise in the process. Chemtrails songs touch on all the classic rock themes: war, revolution, UFOs and the second coming of Jesus (in nuclear bomb form). The band is currently working on its debut album, an epic space rock opera about the end of the world in 2012. Chemtrails has performed all over Chicago in venues such as the Double Door, Martyrs, Kinetic Playground and Elbo Room. The band also takes the show on the road throughout the Midwest.

Andy Levenberg writes the songs, plays the guitar and sings. A founding member of infamous Chicago group Old No. Eight, he has performed across the country at a variety of clubs, festivals and left-wing fundraisers. Andy’s anti-war lyrics have gotten his songs featured on NPR, and he stumped for Dennis Kucinich in 2004.

Doug Tompkins plays the bass and occasionally sings. He is the order from which the chaos flows, and he always knows what time it is. Really, he’s obsessed with it.

Mark Malen is the heavy-hitting drummer with the heart of gold. He sings too. Mark has performed all over the world in various projects, but he rarely gloats about it.
